ASMC PDI 2023: How to Celebrate 75 Years in 5 Days

  • Over 4,500 defense financial management professionals converged on St. Louis (and 1,500 logged in online) to attend the American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC) Professional Development Institute (PDI), May 29–June 2, 2023. As ASMC celebrated its 75th anniversary, Management Concepts also acknowledged its 50th anniversary and had the honor of supporting PDI 2023 as the jubilee sponsor. Throughout the week PDI offered a variety of learning and networking opportunities, with Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) training courses, mini-courses, sessions, an exhibit hall, receptions, and additional events and activities for ASMC members. Although it would be impossible to recount all of these in full, we’ll recap the highlights and welcome comments from other attendees.

NGMA AGT 2023: A Year of Firsts

  • 2023 was a year of growth and new beginnings for the National Grants Management Association (NGMA) Annual Grants Training (AGT), which took place April 10-13, 2023 at the Washington Hilton in Washington, DC. The AGT, which had in recent years been held in Arlington, VA, moved to Washington, DC, and boasted a record number of attendees and vendors. Over 1,200 grants professionals attended sessions and flowed through the exhibit hall to visit 35 exhibit booths.

We the People: Power for Real Change—ASMC NCR PDI

  • For the first time since 2019, the American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC) National Capital Region (NCR) Professional Development Institute (PDI) took place in person on March 9, 2023 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. The event was abuzz with excitement after two virtual NCR PDIs in 2021 and 2022, and the crowd of over 1,000 defense financial management (FM) professionals took full advantage of connecting face-to-face after a long absence, between sessions, at a seated lunch, and throughout the busy exhibit hall.

Two Days of Discovery: AGA NLT 2023

  • AGA kicked off the year with another stellar conference, hosting the 2023 National Leadership Training at the Ronald Reagan Building International Trade Center in Washington, DC. The event took place February 22-23, 2023 with plenary and breakout sessions, and both an in-person and virtual exhibit hall. With over 600 in-person attendees and 500 online, #NLT23 was alive with networking opportunities and of course the opportunity for up to 14 CPEs.

75 Years of Excellence: ASMC Alamo City Symposium

  • From February 16-17, 2023, Management Concepts staff had the pleasure of returning to San Antonio, TX to support the American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC) Alamo City Chapter Professional Development Symposium (PDS) as a Diamond Sponsor, presenting a session as well as greeting ASMC members at our booth in the exhibit hall. Several hundred attendees gathered at the education center at Fort Sam Houston to attend sessions and earn continuing education credit, explore the exhibit hall, and network with other defense financial management professionals.

Shaking Things Up at the SEA Government Executive Change Makers Summit

  • The Senior Executives Association (SEA) premiere annual event took place online December 5-9, 2022 for the third year in a row, dubbed the Government Executive Change Makers Summit for this year. Management Concepts was pleased to support the event as a Silver Sponsor. The Summit provided educational and networking opportunities for leaders in federal government, with support from the Partnership for Public Service and certificates Provided By Yale School of Management and American University Key Executive Leadership Program.
